Master Bathroom Refresh in Richmond Hill

Project Overview

Yorkland Homes recently completed a full master bathroom remodel in Richmond Hill, Ontario. This project involved a complete transformation of an outdated bathroom into a modern and functional space tailored to the homeowner’s lifestyle. From demolition to final finishes, our team handled every stage of the renovation with close attention to detail and quality craftsmanship.

Demolition and Layout Changes

The project began with a full demolition of the existing bathroom. All old fixtures, finishes, and materials were carefully removed to prepare the space for a fresh new layout. One key decision made by the client was to eliminate the bathtub entirely, as it was no longer needed. We also raised the ceiling in the shower area.  This allowed us to maximize space and create a much larger, more comfortable walk-in shower. The ceiling height in the bathroom was approximately 9 ft tall, which gave us the opportunity to create a more open and luxury feel throughout the space.

Tile Work and Custom Shower

Tile installation was a major feature of this renovation. We installed new tile flooring throughout the bathroom, ensuring proper waterproofing and long-term durability. The shower walls were fully tiled as well, including a custom built tiled bench for added comfort and practicality. The shower floor tiles where cut in an envelope style so we could use large format tiles on the shower floor. A custom glass enclosure, 2 panels and 1 door,  was installed to complete the shower, giving it a clean and spacious look. Additionally, we created a tiled accent wall on the vanity side which flowed into the shower, adding texture and visual interest to the overall design.

Vanity, Lighting, and Finishing Touches

A free floating double sink vanity was installed and customized with an LED strip underneath, creating a modern floating effect and soft ambient lighting. Two LED mirrors were added above the vanity, providing excellent lighting while enhancing the contemporary style of the bathroom. We also installed a pocket door, which improved functionality and saved valuable floor space as the previous layout that the client had was not very functional because the door would swing in and was always in the way.
